WOOD SAYS

Wood Says is a soundwalk that playfully transforms the insights and questions regarding plant neurobiology into a marvelous landscape of sound and image. The composition is simultaneously audio book, music album, scientific excursion and immersive sound experience. The project celebrated its premiere in 2021 in the botanical gardens of the University Bonn, funded by Fond Darstellende Künste and the NRW Landesbüro. Within the audio walk the boundaries between science and art blur in a sensual and meaningful way to challenge and at the same time expand our perception of the world, especially the plant world.

In 2022, Wood Says toured through NRW, once again funded by Fonds DAKU and the Landesbüro Freie Darstellende Künste NRW. In May it travelled to the Botanical Gardens in Bochum, in June to the Landschaftspark Park Duisburg Nord and in September it once again returned to the Botanical Gardens in Bonn. The tour ended at Schloss Ringenberg in Hamminkeln. An important part was offering the Audiowalk in both English and German. Silvana is looking forward to continue her journey with Wood Says in the coming years. In 2023 it was part of the symposium re_searching urbanity at floating university Berlin. If you have ideas for places to travel with Wood Says or likewise people to share it with, feel free to contact the artist!

The project also gave rise to the creation of a book which captures Silvana`s journey of learning about as well as from plants. In combining narrative, poetry, photography and drawing, the piece wants to challenge our conception of knowledge and learning alike.
