PASSAGE
This wild audio piece is also the end communication of my master studies at the Toneelacademie Maastricht. My research took me many places, both physically and mentally, and I am very grateful for this artistic research journey. A mentor of mine once said that every art piece we put so much of our time, energy, doubts, fears and joys in is merely a “passage”. I loved and still love that phrasing and it has especially come back to me during this particular process of engaging in my final artistic research communication of my master in theatre studies. At first, it felt overwhelming to put my work and experience into any kind of coherent form. Then I reread my “logbook” (a collection of notes from rehearsals, text passages etc.) and I also read again those letters I had written to Virginia Woolf and Pauline Oliveros as part of my research. It made me smile how everything seemed chaotic and yet wonderfully connected. In the end, my final research communication became a collage of notes, letters, fragments of rehearsals as well as field recordings and soundscapes I playfully merged into a narrative. If you are interested in some impressions of artistic research or just like to dive into this mosaic story, listen away!
